I think I am going to print this quote and have it framed. It eloquently displays what I hope to obtain when I write. I especially like the bit about the surprise ending. It is a tall order to put all those elements into a short story. But it sets a standard with merit.
What do you think? Has Amy left anything out?

this was good support of the short story. i like surprise endings. one that gets me thinking of other possibilities. wonder if short stories should also have a moral to it?

That is is good point. I have often thought of them as akin to Aesop”s fables. Some flash fictions have that vibe. Something to consider.
