A daily writing practice is hard to achieve. Many things vie for our attention and our time. Family, friends, social media and the newest Netflix release are relaxing, enjoyable, and easy. Temptations abound. But every day I write. Sometimes the agonizing grind produces one hundred words. Occasionally, a writing session is filled with magic, pixie dust and a torrential release of words. It is the sporadic reward for making a commitment and doing the work.
What steps are you taking to make writing a habit?

I pick topics that I feel like I can write about. I make it fun so that it doesn’t feel agonizing. Time just flies.

Isn’t it wonderful to choose to write about the things you love or want to say? Sometimes too many choices can get in the way. Keep on writing my friend. 😊

☺ I guess this is one reason why blogging can be addictive. Too many choices do paralyze me. I try hard to keep it simple. Thank you!😄

How do you manage your time?

That is the challenge. I often write in small windows of time, at a doctors office, in my parked car, or early in the morning before the house is awake. But mostly it is late at night, past my bedtime, and I write until I get my words in or I fall asleep with my laptop. How about you?

I am no writer like you but I do what you do, writing my blog posts. Most of my time is taken up reading the posts of people I follow.

I keep hoping I can carve out and schedule some writing time on a consistent basis. Maybe someday. 😉

I don’t write every day because attempting to do so has driven me to a burn out in the past. Instead, when I’m working on a novel, I make time to write most days, but do so whilst being sensitive to my energy levels. If I need to rest, I’ll rest instead of writing.

Despite what some say… One size does not fit all. 😉 The key is to find what works for you. Consistency and accountability gets results and it sounds like you have found a sweet spot, Laura. Take care of yourself and keep on writing. 😊
