Please disregard the word “nonfiction” above. I can’t imagine writing by hand. Period. Ok, so I like writing my lists by hand. I like the feel of my favorite pen, the sound of the nib scratching on paper… but anything else? No way. I love backspace, delete, cut, copy and paste and no red ink.
Then there is auto correct. Yes, sometimes it is a real pain, but it is also a time saver. I don’t have to waste time with a dictionary. I love the ability to search my files for a story and find it as opposed to sifting through notebooks and reams of paper, risking the dreaded paper cut to come up empty-handed.
Which do you prefer?

Good point. I love the gadgets too much and spend my time writing on the iPad or phone.

I put notes on my phone all the time, that way I don’t misplace little notes. 😉

i like both and have mood swings and become needy when deprived of one or the other. But computer and gadgets have made spell checks easier and also word counts. if i were travelling then notebook and pen definitely, not really keen on lugging a lap top around. i have pieces of paper tucked in bags, coat pocket, jeans….when a thought strikes i need to write it down, then when i had a mobile phone became easier to collect those thoughts in one place. so i think i want the best of both worlds.

My laptop is never far from me and when it is not handy I always have my phone. It is amazing what become dependent on. 😉

Several of the bloggers I follow write by hand. I just can’t understand it. I edit each sentence several times before it’s final. I mean god gave us computers, we might as well use them.

You have a point. I too am a ruthless editor. often trimming 1/3 or more of the words I have written. I shudder to think about the number of pages that would be crumbled at my feet. 😊

I use to write by hand all the time, but now my hand gets tired very quickly. Crazy! Just got so used to typing instead, but I do still like to scribble thoughts in my notebook. I will say though that being on the computer or my phone is much neater than my handwriting! LOL!

LOL Don’t I know it. When I write by hand I print everything. I print much faster than cursive and the only one that can read my cursive is me 😨

Interesting?? Which do I prefer? I prefer writing with pen and ink!! But which do I use the most – laptop!! This has changed over the last year. I think pen and ink is the best and purest way and wish it was as easy as the laptop!! I like to write about writing with pen and ink but not so much about on computer. For me it seems that lines flow faster and easier on the laptop. I’m like Gina on this issue. I like both!
