A faint warble penetrates the frozen windowpane and evokes memories of gentler days.
Days devoid of blistering cold with winds that test my resolve as they sling snowflake barbed insults.
The sweet song of summer is not my imagination, for in the barren feeder sits the harbinger of Spring.

i was really so amazed to see the birds out in winter – how do they survive till warmer weather – your story makes me wonder too?

Some birds migrate, robins for one. But plenty stay all year. Cardinals, chickadees, mourning doves, pigeons, hawks and many more. I have a full feeder to give them a hand. 🐦
