Be wary, my dear creative friend, when you say you wish to explore the seductive call of the arts. If your conviction is not solid, if your resolve is not resolute, if your ethics are not steadfast, clear, and true, then my advice to you is to run. Run, before it is too late.

Once you dip your brush, your pen, your sword, your soul is forever colored, consumed, altered.

Oblivion lurks at the bottom of a paint can, time becomes malleable, and insignificant thoughts recede.

Art has left me desperate and my car keys have been missing for weeks.

I admit, I laughed at the end. This is an excellent piece of prose! Art is madness, and it is the death of a former life that was once bereft of it. Once you delve into the arts, it consumes you (like you said) similar to a parasite…

A world-altering and colorful perspective parasite. The arts are everything, and it can be beyond beautiful.

Such great writing here; I can resonate with this very much!

  2. Dear Jo,

I laughed out loud at the ending line. I know from experience how all-consuming art is. And i can’t tell you how many things I’ve misplaced, including car keys. Good one.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
